Smith Westerns are a young band from Chicago who’ve been kicking round for a little while now. They write the type of garage pop that connects with both sides – the guitar sound has real guts to it, and the melodies are so clean and preppy. ‘Weekend’ is the first single from Dye It Blonde, out Jan 21, and this is the clip – a doco of the guys’ typicial Chicago weekend. The band is currently on tour with MGMT in the States. Great tune for a Friday afternoon.
