We love New Zealand, so we’re pretty chuffed to have today announced our first ever NZ signings: the brilliant Tiny Ruins and Unknown Mortal Orchestra, whose debut records we’ll both be releasing this July. Tiny Ruins’ beautifully sparse Some Were Meant For Sea recalls a smooth Jolie Holland, the worldly Unthanks & a young Carlole King, while Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s big, bouncy debut sounds like sunny Saturday arvos, a kooky Sly Stone & the summertime. Some Were Meant For Sea will be released Fri July 1, & UMO’s self-titled debut Fri July 8.
