Sun Kil Moon ‘Benji’ out now April 2nd 2014 By Aaron

Sun Kil Moon ‘Benji’ out now

We’ve just released Sun Kil Moon’s ‘Benji’ locally. It is shaping up to be on of the most critically acclaimed records of 2014. Some reviews below.
Benji sounds more like Kozelek relating events instead of crafting them, which makes the continuity and reflexivity of the record feel both uncanny and the work of protracted genius.’ 9.2 Pitchfork- Best New Music
‘Benji is brutally sad, which may prove a deal-breaker for anyone who appreciated the comparatively light Among the Leaves, but it never feels gratuitous or exploitative. 9/10 UNCUT
‘Benji contains some of the most evocative songs about mortality and youth that have ever been written’. 9/10 Drowned In Sound

Emma Russack ‘You Changed Me’

Emma’s latest album You Changed Me  is out now on LP/CD and digital. buy LP from  (http://shop.spunk.com.au/product/emma-russack-you-changed-me-lp)
You Changed Me spans the years of 2011 to 2013 and is aptly titled. It demonstrates growth, development and complexity, but also represents a significant change in Emma’s life: single for the first time in seven years and experiencing all the fun and excitement in a newly found independence. Tracked over four days in the undulating surrounds of Yowrie on the South Coast, You Changed Me is a deeply introspective and honest narrative of loneliness, exploration and the remnants of lost love. Emma begins her first nation-wide tour next month. Mac Demarco ‘Salad Days’ out now – PITCHFORK best new music! March 17th 2014 By Aaron

Mac Demarco ‘Salad Days’ out now – PITCHFORK best new music!

As I’m getting older, chip up on my shoulder…” is the opening line from Mac DeMarco’s Salad Days, the follow up to 2012’s lauded Mac DeMarco 2 . Amongst that familiar croon and lilting guitar, that initial line from the title track sets the tone for an LP of a maturing singer/songwriter/producer. Someone strangely self-aware of the positives and negatives of their current situation at the ripe old age of 23.
Written and recorded around a relentless tour schedule (including his much loved Meredith Festival & sold out sideshow appearances), Salad Days gives the listener a very personal insight into what it’s all about to be Mac amidst the craziness of a rising career in a very public format.
The lead single, ‘Passing Out Pieces’ is available here: https://soundcloud.com/capturedtracks/passing-out-pieces

PALMARAMA tour kicks off tonight!!!! February 27th 2014 By Aaron

PALMARAMA tour kicks off tonight!!!!

It’s something both bands have been talking about for a long time but it’s finally happening… Palms and The Gooch Palms are hitting the road together for a big fat national tour from late February all through March. They not only share a common word in their bands’ names, but also a love of touring and great friendship to boot! So it was a no-brainer when they got together to arrange the long awaited PALMARAMA NATIONAL TOUR.
Both Palms and The Gooch Palms released their debut albums in late 2013 (Step Brothers and Novo’srespectively) to rave reviews and played to eager crowds during their album tours. PALMARAMA is shaping up to be an even bigger tour than both bands have done previously with this double headliner stretching the length of Australia and back.
