You can’t argue with that hook… A clever clip that shows just what goes on behind Gold Panda’s desk. Catch his debut album, Lucky Shiner, when it drops October 1.

We’re very excited to learn that Built To Spill will soon be visiting Australia, with a handful of special festival performances and solo shows confirmed this summer. Live, their sound is huge, electric and hypnotic, and boy, does Doug Martsch know his way around a guitar. They’ll be supported at Sydney’s Metro show by Bearhug and will ring in the new year at the Pyramid Rock Festival. Full dates below.

Well then, how proud are we? The Middle East and Leader Cheetah have both been announced among this year’s top ten SOYA Music finalists. Pulling up alongside Cloud Control, Seekae, Super Wild Horses and Washington, it’s very exciting to see such a great collection of young Australian musicians be celebrated together. Learn a little more about the Spirit of Youth Awards at http://www.soya.com.au/Awards/, and stay tuned for early October when we find out who’s made the top three.
There’s not long to wait until Swanlights – October 8 to be exact – though in the meantime there’s another reason to be counting down for Antony & The Johnsons: the 144 page book of paintings, drawings, photography, collage and writings that’s accompanying the album’s release. Created and curated entirely by Antony, it’s a very beautiful collection of words and pictures that walks hand in hand with the Swanlights album. You can pre-order your own through Sydney’s Ariel bookstores now.
It’s a good day for music – Icelandic songstress Ólöf Arnalds’ new album, Innundir Skinni is out now in Australia.
Drawing on that distinctly intricate and organic Icelandic sound, more traditional folk and modern pop sounds take shape behind her otherworldy voice. A duet with Bjork and guestings from a handful of incredible Icelandic musicians make this a very special collection of stories, divided between her native tongue and English.
If you’re not familiar, visit Ólöf’s Myspace where the new single, Crazy Car, is streaming now. htp://www.myspace.com/olofarnalds
