Arcade Fire announce ‘The Suburbs’
The Arcade Fire are set to release their third full-length studio album ‘The Suburbs’ August 2nd 2010 on Spunk in Australia/New Zealand and Sonovox elsewhere.
Produced by the Arcade Fire and co-produced by Markus Dravs, ‘The Suburbs’ was written, arranged and recorded in both Montreal and New York over the past two years.
Preceding the release of the album will be a limited edition Double A Side 12” of first album singles The Suburbs and Month Of May, available in Australian record stores from June 1st 2010.
Formed in Montreal, The Arcade Fire are Win Butler, Regine Chassagne, Richard Reed Parry, William Butler, Tim Kingsbury, Sarah Neufeld and Jeremy Gara. ‘The Suburbs’ is the highly anticipated follow up to their 2007 sophomore album ‘Neon Bible’ which debuted at #2 in the UK and also the Billboard Hot 100. Their 2004 debut ‘Funeral’ was equally revered and recently featured strongly in Album Of The Decade polls, including NME, Pitchfork, The Guardian, Mojo and Rolling Stone. Both records were nominated for Best Alternative Album at the Grammy Awards following their release.

Bearhug are Spunk’s latest signing from Australian shores. Since featured on the Spunk Singles Club (February, 2009) we’ve been watching them mature into one of the most exciting and promising young Australian guitar bands, with a sound like Spunk label-mates Broken Social Scene and Guided By Voices for a new generation of young and carefree kids.
The first single from their forthcoming E.P ‘To Anything’ (out June 25 on Spunk) ‘Grapefruit’ is already receiving love from radio stations and websites nation-wide.

Yeasayer announce second Melbourne show
Due to overwhelming demand, Yeasayer have announced a second show in Melbourne. Their first Melbourne show on Thursday 29th July at the Prince of Wales is well and truly SOLD OUT – the newly announced second show will also take place on Thursday 29th July at the Prince Of Wales immediately after the first. Doors for the SOLD OUT early show will be at 8pm, with Yeasayer onstage 9.30pm. Doors for the late show will be 11.15pm, with Yeasayer onstage 11.45pm.
