The Books return to Aus next February

If you’ve not heard The Books, they’re certainly a band whose approach to music’s worth exploring. Using found sounds, samples, knick knacks & toys as their instruments, they make a really beautiful blend of electronica & organic music, with vintage visuals from tapes found in U.S thrift stores their backdrop. They’re soon heading back to Aus, playing Perth International Arts Festival on Feb 16, Sydney’s Seymour Theatre on the 18th, Brisbane’s Zoo on the 19th &  Melbourne’s Thrornbury on the 20th & 21st. JEFF The Brotherhood in their element November 1st 2010 By brooke

JEFF The Brotherhood in their element

It doesn't get much more low-fi than this, but check out the vibe: two brothers playing a tiny basement and a crowd going mad. It's such a great sound - that super chunky guitar and the old school rock riffs. JEFF The Brotherhood take the stage with mates of state Those Darlins at The Beach Road, Bondi on Dec 15, The Annandale Hotel on the 16th, and the Espy's Gershwin Room on the 17th. Fingers crossed it's just like this!

Sonny & The Sunsets ‘Death Cream’ October 30th 2010 By brooke

Sonny & The Sunsets ‘Death Cream’

Sonny & The Sunsets somehow manage to feel like a non-specific throwback to everything great about American guitar-pop of the 50s, 60s & 70s. But there is something wonderfully Modern Lovers to their record Tomorrow Is Alright, out this Friday, and we are all about the clip to their killer single ‘Death Cream’.
