Active Child announces Melbourne Festival show; new EP ‘Rapor’

Active Child, the musical endeavor of Pat Grossi, is pleased to announce his return to Australia; appearing at the Melbourne Festival on Friday October 25.

After releasing the critically acclaimed debut album, You Are All I See in 2011 Active Child hit the road for two non stop years of US and European headline tours, shared stages with the likes of M83, and multiple festival stops including Hove Festival, Montreaux Jazz, and St Jerome’s Laneway Festival. Following this international run, Grossi returned to his home studio, Rapor, in Los Angeles with a new inspiration and vision for his next release.

“Being on the road for that long was exhausting, frustrating at times, but it was occasionally highlighted with the most profound outpouring of emotion. There is no way to really explain the feeling of a complete stranger coming up to you after a show, wrapping their arms around you and sobbing uncontrollably. It was in those moments that I realized where I fit in, I guess you could say I found my place as an artist. And it pushed me further than I ever thought I could go.”

After spending a year at home writing, Grossi is ready to release a new body of work titled after his mountaintop studio, Rapor. The opening track, entitled ‘She Cut Me’, can be heard here: https://soundcloud.com/active-child/she-cut-me

Tickets available from the venue: http://www.melbournerecital.com.au/

New Ty Segall & Okkervil River albums this month! August 2nd 2013 By Aaron

New Ty Segall & Okkervil River albums this month!

Ty Segall – Sleeper, out  August 20  After famously releasing three records in 2012, Ty Segall passed the first half of 2013 without releasing a single album. Incredible! Thankfully, Sleeper is out on the 20th August. Now all we need is a tour. Can anyone help with this?

Okkervil River – The Silver Gymnasium, out August 30 We’re thrilled to welcome the folk-rockers back into the Spunk family, after previously releasing their acclaimed records The Stage Names and The Stand Ins. The songs of The Silver Gymnasium are centred on the isolated hamlet of Meriden, NH; the childhood home of bandleader Will Sheff. This is Okkervil River’s most autobiographical record yet, as Sheff recounts adolescent struggles and sleepy small town life.

Alela Diane’s ‘About Farewell’ out today June 27th 2013 By admin

Alela Diane’s ‘About Farewell’ out today

Alela Diane’s stunning record About Farewell is out today.

About Farewell serves as an eloquent goodbye to lovers from years past, coupled with some poignant last walks down memory lane. While the lyrics deal most directly with her recent divorce, the album explores her entire last decade of relationships with tremendous honesty and nuanced insight.

Find the album at iTunes here, or via JB Hi-Fi here.
