Crepes announce sophmore album ‘In Cahoots’

Melbourne-via-Ballarat five-piece, Crepes, today announce the forthcoming release of their sophomore album, ‘In Cahoots’, and unveil their newest single, ‘As You Go’. Released 26th October, In Cahoots marks a new chapter in the retro-edged pop rock of Crepes. With all songs written together and recorded live for the very first time, Crepes emerge with a newfound energy and synergy on In Cahoots, sparkly harmonies abound, to create their most triumphant release yet.
The album was recorded in early 2018 at John Lee’s Phaedra Studios in Coburg. A newfound trust in each member’s musicianship and delight driven by collaboration meant In Cahoots was completed in a mere six days.
Lee, who’s also worked with Ocean Party, Free Time and Laura Jean, tags the band as “yacht-prog”, acknowledging the departure from the 70’s studio-rock sound of Crepes’ debut album Channel Four. On In Cahoots, 10 songs take more from British pop artists like The Kinks and Kevin Ayers, as well as new wave influences like the Buzzcocks and Devo. Totally Mild guitarist Zachary Schneider also provided support during the process, leading the recording of lead singles ‘Bicycle Man’ and ‘As You Go’.
