The Buoys “All This Talking Gets Us No Where” July 10

One of Australia’s most exciting, punk-fuelled bands, The Buoys, today share new single “Linda” alongside news of a brand new EP All This Talking Gets Us No Where, out July 10 via Spunk Records.
“Linda is for anyone who’s had a shit boss,” says lead singer and guitarist Zoe Catterall. “After being yelled at and begrudgingly working somewhere just so I could afford rent, I wrote Linda and quit.”
Linda” is the swaggering follow-up to frenetic lead track “WAH,” both of which are taken from the Sydney band’s 6-track sophomore EP All This Talking Gets Us No Where, following on from 2017’s self-released Soft Boy. Zoe says The EP is a collection of experiences over the last year: a workplace feud, some guitar shop person cracking a joke about chicks not playing instruments and all the other tid bits of life.”
In making the EP, Zoe stresses the importance of working with a diverse crew of people. “There are so many talented women/non-binary/trans people in the arts and we really wanted to do our best to showcase this,” she says. “We recorded the body of work with Antonia Gauci, a music mastermind, and continue to work with an amazing photographer April Josie who even pieces together the clip for ‘WAH’. Speaking of clips we‘ve worked extensively with Director Clover Ryan who always puts together a diverse team, she worked on ‘Inside Outside’ and ‘Gold’. The glue that keeps it all together is our amazing manager Nat Day.”
Pre-COVID, The Buoys kicked off 2020 with supports for Violent Soho and Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, alongside killer sets at Farmer and the Owl and Grampians Festival. They remain a lock as the main support on the re-routed Spacey Jane tour. The band were also recently nominated for Best Live Act in the FBi SMAC Awards following their killer 2019, releasing singles ‘Inside Outside’ and ‘Gold’, embarking a huge national tour with DZ Deathrays, and hitting the festival circuit.
